Verification Code FAQ

TABLE OF CONTENTS

I received a verification email from PBS. Is it legitimate?

PBS will send you an email when you first create an account with us using our PBS Account option. If you sign into PBS with a Facebook, Google, or Apple ID account, we will not send you an email asking you to verify your account.

You can confirm the email is sent from us by checking the sender's email address: the email we send you is sent from the address [email protected]

Our verification email will contain a single six-digit code to use when signing into PBS.org for the first time. We also will not prompt you to click on any links or submit any personal information via the email.

How do I verify my PBS account?

When you first create a PBS account, we'll ask you to enter a six-digit verification code after you submit your email address with us. This code is emailed to the same address of your new account and this email should arrive immediately after you're prompted to enter the code.

To make verification easier, we recommend checking your email inbox by opening a new tab in your browser or by using another device, such as a phone or tablet. To open a new browser tab on Windows & Linux, press Ctrl + t. On a Mac, press ⌘ + t

Once you have your verification code, copy it on your computer or write it down before returning to the login screen and entering your code.

Once you enter your verification code, you'll be able to create a personal password and finish creating your personal PBS account.

My verification code email does not arrive in my inbox.

If you did not receive the verification code email from us, please check your spam, junk, or trash folder in case the email was caught in your inbox's filter.

You can also request a new verification code email by using the Resend Code option on the PBS login screen where you're asked to enter the verification code.

If you still do not receive the verification code email from [email protected], please consult with your email domain host for additional options.

If you log into PBS with a Facebook, Google, or Apple ID account, you will not need to enter a verification code. If you continue to have trouble receiving the verification code, we recommend using one of these alternative login options or using a different personal email address.

My verification code is invalid.

PBS account verification codes are made up of six numbers and do not contain any spaces, letters, or special characters. Please double-check that you have entered the code properly and have not left out any numbers or included any extra characters.

If you continue to encounter this issue, we recommend using the Resend Code option on the PBS login screen to receive a new verification code. A new email will arrive in your inbox with another code.

My verification code is expired.

As a security measure, PBS account verification codes expired after 7 minutes, and we are not able to extend this expiration time or make any exceptions.

If your verification code has expired, you can request a new code using the Resend Code option on the PBS login screen. A new email will arrive in your inbox with another code.

If you have trouble entering your verification code before it expires, we recommend opening a new tab in your browser to access your email inbox so you can quickly copy the code from the verification email and immediately enter it in the PBS login screen. To open a new browser tab on Windows & Linux, press Ctrl + t. On a Mac, press ⌘ + t

You can also use another device, such as a phone or tablet, to open your email inbox and manually enter the code on your original device.

If you continue to have trouble entering your code before it expires, we recommend logging into PBS with a Facebook, Google, or Apple ID account, since you will not need to enter a verification code for these other login options. Once you have created your account with us, you will be able to unlink it from Facebook, Google, or Apple ID if you ever wish to log into PBS without these options.
